Little Bird, Strong Tree

Gentle fighter

your soul may be cracking

under the weight of you

But I will hold you up

to fight on

Flightless Sparrow

your song might be drowning

out in the wars around you

But I will sing louder

your song of hope

Shaking tree

your branches shiver in the cold

the world has shown you

But I will brace you

to grow tall

Rippling waves

your touch might be fleeting

with the storm of hatred coming

But I will fan you

to touch further shores

Dying star

your light might be waning

in a world where we are all trying to outshine each other

But I will dull my light

to brighten yours

Tiny person

you might be different

when you grow up in this world

But I will love you

because of that.

To All GLBT Children out there: You are not alone.  There are millions of people in this world who love you, and will hold you up until you can stand on your own two feet and say to the rest of the world that you are here, and you are staying.

Never doubt that.
