Love is patient. Love is kind.

Love...sucks.

Let's face it, when you boil it down to its essence, love can be the biggest pain in the ass known to man. Love causes so many problems. It makes people choose poorly. It makes us behave in ways we wouldn't normally. It...dumbs us down.

We know it. We see it in our own lives and we read about it all the time. Hell, some of us - ME! - even write about it.

So why do we put up with it? What is it about love that makes it so deserving of being saved? What makes it worth the sacrifices that we take upon ourselves?

Because without it, we're empty. We're shells. We're unmoving rocks that feel nothing and can care for nothing; not even ourselves. Love makes us see things in ways ours eyes can't see on their own. It becomes blinders, and filters, and magnifying lenses. It pads us from the sharpness of pain just as much as it enhances it, and more than anything it makes us appreciate the way we suffocate when we don't have it.

Love makes us see past the ugliness of life and it envelopes us in a way that arms, and words, and physical wrappings never could.

Love makes us forgive. 

Love allows us to take chances we normally never would. It also makes us frightened.

Love gives us hope. It gives us faith in ourselves and in others.

When we love, we're more generous than we ever thought possible, and when we're loved, we're more blessed than we've ever dreamed.

Love is...

Everything.
